MON LOOK

All about exploring new paths for earthy colours at the moment! Today I'm wearing the safari shirt I showed you yesterday with white denim and a leather jacket (all from Zara). The nude leather handbag (Carven) is one of my favourites - probably due to its pretty amazing colour (the finest shade of nude slightly peachy and satined - so perfect, some people stopped and asked me about it on the street), its perfect size to keep essentials and the fact it goes with everything. Python style stilettos and belt (both h&m). And because a safari theme is never completed without jewelry, I had to add a tiger bracelet (Urban Outfitters).-Vous l'aurez compris, j'explore de nouvelles pistes autour des couleurs terre en ce moment! Aujourd'hui je porte la chemise safari que je vous ai montré hier avec un slim blanc et une veste en cuir (le tout Zara). Le sac en cuir nude (Carven) fait partie de mes pièces indispensables - certainement grâce à sa couleur assez sublime (un ton exquis de nude, pêche et légèrement satiné - si beau que des personnes m'ont arrêté à ce sujet dans la rue), sa taille parfaite pour contenir des essentiels et le fait qu'il puisse se se porter avec tout. Escarpins en python et ceinture (h&m). Et parce-qu'un thème safari n'est jamais complet sans bijoux, j'ai rajouté ce bracelet tigre (Urban Outfitters).

CARVEN FW13

Guillaume Henry proved once again he is designing for women and girls of today and tomorrow.

Never short of resources and bright ideas. 

On the road under the head-lights of a background stack of 9 vintage Fiat cars, he challenges style codes inviting us to wear zebra prints. 

The chic way of course. Unexpected and fierce. 

The clever compositions, transparent at times, were paired with pastels/nudes leading to a seductive reservée attitude, full of freshness. 

A favorite element was the polo-neck dickies graphically revealing a décolleté under the coats. 

Particularly charmed by the bambi trench-coat look.

Another favourite were the energizing headlights in the dark night prints in the end and feminine dresses with spaghetti straps.

Also, amazing model casting featuring the girls crush from this fashion week, Kel Markey (picture 2).

 

 

Guillaume Henry prouve une fois de plus qu'il créait des collections pour les femmes et filles d'aujourd'hui et de demain.

Jamais à court de ressources ni d'idées brillantes. 

Sur une route éclairée par les phares de neuf voitures Fiat vintage en background, il challenge les codes stylistiques et nous invite à porter de l'imprimé zèbre. En mode très chic. Inattendu et fort. 

Ses ingénieuses compositions, dont du zébré transparent par moments, sont associées à des tons pastels et nude pour une attitude séduisante-réservée, emplie de fraîcheur. 

Un détail favori : les plastrons aux cols montants révélant de façon graphique un décolleté sous les manteaux.

Particulièrement charmée par le look trench-coat bambi.

Mais aussi par les imprimés phares dans la nuit noire de la fin et les robes à bretelles spaghetti très féminines.

It has the most amazing intercrossed lace-up detail on the back.

LET'S TALK MENS FW13

  

I don't know about you ... but I am clearly drawn to modern sobriety for FW13 Menswear.

I think that is what men get for (at the end of the day) loving normal clothes, good quality and great cuts.     

But no confusion here : men do not want to look boring. Yes, ask them about that! 

Fashion-makers know it. Their answer : accessories.

See the plethora of back-packs, hiking boots, skiing-hats, attaché-cases in the shows... you name it.

Browsing through the collections on style.com, my attention is caught by the Fendi grey/black look ( picture 1).

At first sight, nothing new, nothing major, maybe boring, but I feel there is much more to it. 

What I see is an astute quasi-monochramatic composition of substantial micro-details. 

It is all stretched down to the perfect understated leather bag and polished wooden soles. 

That textured wool coat fabric. That contrasted knitted polo neck, worn super-high neck (!) substituting the scarf. 

They all feel part of elegant/casual/modern codes whose equation just feels right, unpretentious. 

The kind of look any man, any age, anywhere, could wear.

Now, how cool area these hiking boots at Hermès (2) ? 

Men should seriously consider more pairing hiking-boots with their office attire. 

I am also very keen on the Carven silhouette (3). Particularly the hoodie skiing-hat ... don't you just love the idea an accessory could literally break the rules of the somewhat universal office uniform? 

That said, the office-wear exercise at Valentino was absolutely magnetic (4). 

No-one could resist the 'executive meets 70's gangster' attitude.  

    

Attitude that was also seen at Lanvin (5) and Louis Vuitton (6) where urban-warriors, all envelopped in earthy-toned oversized parkas, were protecting their office-gear. 

In an odd to normality, we had the likes of Givenchy (7) and Marni (8) mixing high-tech sports jackets with utility-tailoring. Nothing overly unconventional or experimentally avant-guarde though. 

And you know what the best part is?  That it wasn't missing. It felt completely right, completely 2013. 

Taking cues from the two power-houses, we can conclude how in fact Simple looks are not Simple at all to execute. 

That is what men fashion seems to be dictating. Normal Plus. 

And isn't it just after all what designer menswear fashion should be about ? 

CARVEN X MARIA LUISA - Trunk show SS11

Quelques looks de la collection Carven Printemps-Eté 2011 par Guillaume Henry lors de la soirée preview à l'espace Maria Luisa, au Printemps Haussmann. Gros coup de coeur pour les imprimés graphiques archi-modernes et la palette de couleurs sûres et vivifiantes. La collection est d'une élégance remarquable, emplie de fraîcheur. Les coupes sont juste incroyables avec toujours ce tombé très couture et en même temps si facile à porter au quotidien. La collection sera disponible dès la fin du mois en magasins. L'occasion d'écrire sa wish-list.

A few looks from Carven SS11 collection designed by Guillaume Henry during the preview at the Maria Luisa space in Printemps Haussmann (Paris). Really loving the modern take on the graphic prints and the colour palette, both confident and vivid. The collection is remarkably elegant and fresh. The shapes are just incredible with their relaxed couture-ish fit easy and perfect to wear on a daily basis. The collection will be in stores starting end of the month. The occasion to write a wish-list.

Comme promis, voici quelques unes de mes pièces de la maison CARVEN (collection Hiver 2010/11) par Guillaume Henry. Le col claudine blanc immaculé est en crèpe de chine, le short est en faille (petit côté sport-couture) et les bas de laine ont une texture milleraies. J'adore le côté 'étudiante parisienne' de cette tenue.

As promised, a few of  my FW10 pieces from maison CARVEN, designed by Guillaume Henry. The  immaculate white neckpiece is in silk, the shorts are in technical taffetas (sport-couture-ish) and the wool stockings have a pinstripe texture. I really like the 'parisian geek student' feel of this look. 

Et enfin, nous y venons : le sac cartable! Mon modèle est BI-matière (cuir et flanelle) et  BI-colore (bleumarine et noir), je ne le quitte plus :)  ----- And finally here is my coveted school bag! Made of leather & flanelle, it's bi-coloured (navy blue and black); I never take it off :)

- Le film POTICHE de François Ozon; un petit côté The Royal Tenenbaums version frenchie 70's, c'est juste énooorme! ----- French film POTICHE by director François Ozon - a little something of The Royal Tenenbaums in a special 70's french version, so hilariooous!

- METRONOME, le livre/guide atypique de Lorant Deutsch qui offre au lecteur un voyage unique dans l'histoire de Paris et ses monuments, à bord des stations de métro. C'est drôle, intelligent et hyper instructif (flashbacks anecdotiques au temps des Gaulois ou du Baron Haussmann). Recommandé à tous les amoureux de Paris!

  METRONOME, the atypical tool/book by Lorant Deutsch, offering to the reader a unique journey acroos the history of Paris and its monuments through the capital's tube stations. It's fun, clever and genuinely instructive (anecdotic flashbacks to the Gaulois times or Baron Haussmann's projects). Recommended to all Paris lovers!
